Most Popular
HSK 1 Complete Pack
Every one of the 150 HSK 1 words, with stroke order for each character, audio at two speeds and flashcard decks in both directions. If you learn nothing else this year, learn these.
Less than US$36, which is what one hour of one-to-one teaching costs — and this one does not end when the hour does.
The HSK path
The five-level standard, still what most textbooks and most exam boards follow. Each pack builds straight on the one before it, so the method never changes — only the vocabulary does.

Use these instead if your exam follows the newer banded syllabus. Same format and same method as the packs above — a different word list.
家 jiā
HSK 3.0 Band 1 Complete Pack
The opening band of the 2021 standard, and where it all begins.
城 chéng
HSK 3.0 Band 2 Complete Pack
Continues straight on from Band 1, same structure and same format.
界 jiè
HSK 3.0 Band 3 Complete Pack
The 198 most useful words after Bands 1 and 2, drawn mostly from Levels 3 and 4.
关 guān
HSK 3.0 Band 4 Complete Pack
The more common half of the Level 3 words left after Band 3, including 把 (bǎ) and 被 (bèi).
校 xiào
HSK 3.0 Band 5 Complete Pack
The rest of official Level 3. With Bands 1 to 4, that is all 1,000 words of Levels 1 to 3.
管 guǎn
HSK 3.0 Band 6 Complete Pack
The most common words of official Level 4: linking words, abstract nouns and opinions.
Not tied to a level
Two packs that are useful whatever level you are, and — if you are not sure which level that is — the test that tells you before you spend anything.
木 mù
The 214 Radicals Complete Pack
Every radical with its meaning, stroke order and the characters built from it. The fastest route from guessing at a character to reading it.
名 míng
The Chinese Naming Kit
Choose a Chinese name that works: what it means, how it sounds, and how it lands with a native speaker.
哪 nǎ
Which level am I?
Twenty minutes, no email address, and an honest answer. Most people guess a level above the one they are actually at, and buy the wrong pack because of it. Take the test first.

Every pack is a one-off payment, and every file is yours to keep. The Naming Kit is the one item with no flashcard deck, which is why that cell is empty.
How to choose
Five situations, and what we would tell you in a lesson if you asked.
You are starting from zero
HSK 1. One hundred and fifty words is roughly the point at which a language stops feeling like noise, and the workbook makes you write each character rather than recognise it, which is the difference between reading a menu and ordering from it.
You can already recognise characters but cannot write them
The Radicals Pack. Characters are built from about two hundred components; once you know them, an unfamiliar character stops being a picture and starts being a word you can take apart. It makes every level after it cheaper in effort.
You have an exam to sit
Check with your exam board which standard it follows before you buy anything. Most still use the five-level HSK, so HSK 1 to 5 is the safe answer. If yours has moved to the 2021 banded syllabus, use the HSK 3.0 packs instead — the word lists overlap but they are not the same.
You are somewhere in the middle and not sure where
Take the level test first. It is free, takes twenty minutes and asks for no email address. Most people place themselves a level above where they actually sit, which is the single most common reason someone buys the wrong pack.
You only need a Chinese name
The Naming Kit, and nothing else. It is the one item here that is not part of a path — a hundred given names and a hundred and twenty-four surnames with what each one means and how it lands with a native speaker.
Free, and genuinely free

What we are making next
Self-paced online courses. Full courses you work through online at your own pace, from the same teacher and the same material these packs are made from. 课 kè is simply the word for a lesson.
Merchandise. Things worth owning rather than things with a logo on them. Nothing is designed yet, so there is nothing to show you — which is exactly why it is listed here and not pictured.
Not on sale yet. If you would rather not wait, the one-to-one lessons are running now.
FAQs

Who makes these
I grew up speaking Mandarin at home and English everywhere else, after my family moved to Sydney when I was young. That is the whole reason these exist: most teaching material is written either by someone who never had to learn the language, or by someone who never had to explain it in English.
Every one of these printable Mandarin workbooks is the practice I set my own beginners, put into a form you can work through on your own — the same stroke order, the same voice on the audio, the same order of teaching. Nothing here is material I would not use in a lesson.
Will · native Mandarin speaker · teaching since 2015 · more about how I teach
“It’s affordable, easy to use, detailed and interactive. I was able to easily print it out and practise my handwriting. It was a tremendous resource for my HSK preparation.”

“Will is an excellent teacher who helped me go from no Mandarin to semi-fluency within three months.”
