Built bilingual the hard way — now teaching the same path.

Will is the founder of WillyChina and a native Mandarin speaker. Born in China and raised in Sydney, Australia, he grew up bilingual and spent his twenties navigating the same problem his students now face — how to keep a heritage language alive, or build one from scratch, as a busy adult.

His teaching practice draws on a decade of 1-on-1 work with beginners, travellers, professionals and heritage learners across more than 20 countries. The method is structured but personal: every learning plan is built around the student’s life, schedule and reason for studying — never around a fixed curriculum.
