Downloadable · one payment · yours to keep
Stop recognising HSK 1 words.
Start writing them.
You can already read the 150 words of HSK 1 on a screen. This is the pack that puts them in your hand — traced, heard and drilled until they stay.
Tracing grids for every character
Word lists by category
70-page workbookOne payment. No subscription, no expiry. An hour of one-to-one costs US$36 — this is yours for good.
Hear it before you buy
Every word in the pack is recorded twice — once at natural speed, once slowed for shadowing. Tap any word to hear the natural-speed version, exactly as it arrives in your download.
Six of the 150. The pack contains all of them, indexed so you can find any word in seconds.
Stroke order, then your own hand
Every character gets its stroke sequence shown step by step, with the new stroke in red — then a row to practise in. The first square is printed faintly to trace; the rest are yours. Order matters: a character written in the wrong sequence looks wrong even when every stroke is there.
好 · hǎo · good — one of 150 rows, laid out in 田字格 guides so the character sits correctly.
What arrives
One zip, three parts, roughly four megabytes. Nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
The workbook
70 pages, printable A4
Numbered stroke-order diagrams and a tracing row for every character, grouped by the fourteen HSK 1 categories.
- Stroke order shown step by step, new stroke in red
- Word lists with a tick-box per word
- 田字格 guides on every square
- Three-pass progress tracker
The audio
300 MP3 files
All 150 words, twice over — natural speed and slowed. The same native voice used across WillyChina.
- Separate natural and slow folders
- An index mapping every file to its word
- Plays on any device, no app required
The flashcards
Anki, both directions
Character to meaning, and meaning to character — because recognising a word is not the same as recalling it.
- 150 cards in each direction
- Audio wired into every card
- Step-by-step import instructions
Why writing, when you only need to read?
Because reading alone is fragile. Recognising 好 on a page is a different skill from producing it, and the one that feels like enough is the one that fades first. Writing a character forces you to notice its parts — which strokes, in which order, in what proportion — and that noticing is what makes it stay legible in your memory a month later. It is also the fastest way to stop confusing characters that look alike.
This is the part almost every free resource skips, because a list is cheap to produce and a workbook is not.
Who this is for
A good fit if
- You are working through HSK 1 and want the characters to stick
- You learn better with a pen than with an app
- You want to own your materials rather than rent them
- You have a printer, or access to one
Probably not if
- You only want to speak, and never intend to write
- You are already past HSK 2 — this would be revision
- You want video lessons; this is practice material, not a course
- You would rather have a teacher, in which case book a free call instead
Questions
Is this a subscription?
No. It is one payment. The files are yours to keep and re-download on any device, forever.
What exactly do I get?
One zip containing a 70-page PDF workbook with stroke-order diagrams, 300 MP3 audio files — every one of the 150 words at natural speed and slowed — and two Anki flashcard files with import instructions.
Do I need a printer?
For the tracing pages, yes. That is the point of them. The audio and flashcards work entirely on screen.
The HSK 1 word list is already free on this site. Why pay?
The free PDF is a reference list, and it stays free. This is a workbook built for practice: tracing grids for every character, audio at two speeds, and flashcards. A different job entirely.
Which HSK version is this?
HSK 1 as it is currently examined, covering all 150 words. If you are studying the newer HSK 3.0 bands, the free band word lists cover those.
What if the download does not work?
